The Great Get Together in Honour of Jo Cox

On Saturday 17th June we held our first major event at Haywood Road Community Centre and Bowling Green. As the temperature soared towards 30°C crowds of picnickers settled under the trees at the north end of the old bowling green enjoying the sunshine, views and the green space. Meanwhile more crowds browsed the stalls set up on the green from the PDSA, Haywood Road Pre-School, The Hollies Nursery, Shake the Spirit Cocktails and loads of others.

A superb soundtrack was provided by DJ Hemulen Soundz with dancing displays and a Zumba class from Studio 3 Dance and Fitness Centre as well as a Tai Chi class from Turtle Lodge Healing. Councillor Muriel Weisz planted a red rose to commemorate Jo Cox while tea, coffee and refreshments were served in the shade of Haywood Road Community Centre.

The event was such a success and a real display of what can be achieved when communities get together, if you are up for helping out with future events like this please get in touch via our Facebook page click here or email us on enquiries@haywoodroad.uk
